Catalog of Space Object Reentries

Each row of the catalog represents the reentry of a space object. (However, note that sometimes two consecutive rows represent the reentry of a payload and a rocket stage attached to each other).

• JCAT - The catalog number for the object from the General Catalog of Space Objects
• Name Name of the space object
• State Country which which the organization owning the space object is associated. Country tags are from the Space Organizations catalog.
• LaunchDate Launch date (UTC) of the object.
• SepDate Separation date (UTC) of the object from a parent object, when it became a separate orbiting object. This date is not meaningful for objects which remain attached to a parent (i.e. if the Parent column is not empty).
• OffDate Last transmission date (UTC). This is either the date at which the object completely ceased to operate, or - if the object is still operating - it is the date of release of this edition of the catalog.
• DownDate For objects which are still in space, the date of release of this edition of the catalog. For objects which have reentered or landed, the date (UTC) at which the object ceased to be in space.
• EOMLDate The `end of mission life' date, when object was last able to actively change its orbit. For objects which have their own propulsion this is equal to the OffDate; for other objects it is equal to the SepDate. The idea is that EOMLDate represents the date at which the object became space junk from the point of view of other space users, even if it was still performing a useful function.
• ObjectType Specifies whether the space object is a satellite payload that has reached end of mission (PLD) or is still active and manueverable (PLAC), or is attached to another object (PLAT); a discarded rocket body (RB); an ejected inert part (PART), or an satellite subsection expected to be ejected later (PLSX).
• Up Specifies whether the object is still in flight (Up), or has reentered or landed (Down). Tags UpAtt and DownAtt further indicate that the object was attached (at DownDate) to a parent object idenified in the Parent column.
• Active Either `Active' - the object is still transmitting and operating - or `Off' - the object is defunct, even if still in orbit.
• Mvr Maneuverability flag, with three possible values: - "NOT", the object does not have its own propulsion; "MVR",the object has its own propulsion after the launch phase and has/had the capability to change its orbit; "DO", the object could not make arbitrary orbital changes but carried a single-use motor to actively deorbit it at the end of its mission.
• CptDownMass An estimate of the mass of this component at reentry, in kg.
• DownMass An estimate of the mass of the full object at reentry, in kg. This includes the mass of an attached parent object, if any. If there is no attached parent, CptDownMass and DownMass should be the same.
• AcLife Active life (so far) in years; this is equal to OffDate minus LaunchDate.
• OrbLife Orbital life (so far) in years; this is equal to DownDate minus LaunchDate.
• PMLife Post Mission life (so far) in years; this is equal to DownDate minus EOMLDate.
• MEO200 Number of years object will spend in the MEO Protected Zones over the next 200 years. In the current implementation, the value given is just the fraction of the current orbit in the zone times 200 years, which ignores the very important role of lunisolar perturbations, so beware of reading too much into these values.
• EOML Peri Orbital perigee height in km, as of date EOMLDate.
• EOML Apo Orbital apogee height in km, as of date EOMLDate.
• EOML Inc Orbital inclination to equator of date in degrees, as of date EOMLDate.
• Location Location of reentry, landing or impact, when known. This can be either lon/lat or a text description.
• OrbitCode This code indicates the general type of disposal orbit, as given in the table below. The orbital height is defined as (EOML Peri + EOML Apo ) / 2.

  GTO	Geotransfer orbit (medium)	perigee in range 600 to 2000 km and apogee less than 35486 km
  HiGTO	Geotransfer orbit (high)	perigee less than 2000 km and apogee more than 35486 km
  GEO	Geosynchronous orbit	height in range 35486- 36086 km
  XGEO	Orbit that crosses the geosync zone	Perigee below 36086 km and not covered in other categories
  GGYD	GEO Graveyard	Perigee more than 36086 km and height less than 150000 km
  DEEP	Cislunar or heliocentric orbit	Height beyond 150,000 km

• Status Final status code of the space object from GCAT, see the definition of GCAT status values.
• Parent JCAT catalog number of the parent object that the space object is attached to (or was attached to at reentry/deorbit).
• DispMode Disposal mode code for this object. Prefixed by "ATT" if the object is attached to a parent. See the explanation of the Disposal codes.
